Number of Positions: 1

Hours: Position is (19) hours per week, Monday-Friday, of which (9) hours per week will be on Mellon Grant-funded project. Remaining (10) hours per week will be department-funded duties for the Archive of Recorded Sound.

Mellon Grant Project: (9) hours per week (three 3-hour shifts) between 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.

Archive of Recorded Sound:
(10) hours per week between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Mellon Grant Project: Input data from 78 rpm sound recordings in the Archive of Recorded Sound into OCLC batch files in preparation for batch downloading of cataloging copy.

Archive of Recorded Sound: Assist with processing and maintaining collections of archival audio, video, and print materials including sorting, organizing, weeding, and shelving; assist with creating inventories, tracking statistics, and some preservation reformatting including photocopying and occasional scanning.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Ability to follow instructions accurately and with attention to detail; ability to work reliably, steadily and independently; proficient in Windows environment; ability to learn basic inputting on OCLC batch files; good keyboarding skills; ability to handle fragile materials safely; ability to lift up to 40 pounds. Knowledge of historical sound recordings desired.
