Upcoming BitCurator software webinar led by DLSS staff
Stanford Libraries staff will be leading an upcoming webinar on the advanced uses of the Bulk Extractor forensics tool titled “bulk_extractor: Beyond the Basics”. This is part of an ongoing series of webinars designed to dig a little deeper into the advanced functionality of the BitCurator software environment. These webinars are hosted by the BitCurator Consortium, of which Stanford is a charter member. BitCurator is a suite of open source forensics tools developed for the curation of born-digital materials with generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. This upcoming webinar will focus on advanced features, uses and application of the bulk_extractor software tool and will cover the following topics:
- Brief overview of bulk_extractor basic functionality and outputs
- Example use cases for advanced bulk_extractor operation
- Understanding of application beyond default scanners (wordlists, etc)
The webinar will be led by Michael Olson and Sandy Ortiz from Stanford University Library. There are no prerequisites for this webinar. However, it is designed for users already familiar with the basic operations of the BitCurator environment, and the bulk_extractor software tool in particular.
