First meeting of Stanford's 50th Faculty Senate

Stanford's Faculty Senate celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in 2018. A new exhibit, on display in Green Library's south lobby until April 30, examines the history of the Senate, including its origin, functions, and historical demographics and scope, as well as the role of Stanford students in shaping its agendas and policies.

Much of the content for this exhibit is drawn from the upcoming monograph, The Stanford Senate of the Academic Council: Reflections on Fifty Years of Faculty Governance, 1968–2018, produced by the Stanford University Office of the Academic Secretary, with the support of the Stanford Historical Society.

Special thanks to Academic Secretary Emerita Susan Schofield, current Academic Secretary (and Senate Chair Emeritus) Tom Wasow, and Senate Chair Emeritus Peter Stansky, for their assistance in the creation of this exhibit!
