Special Collections welcomes Alyssa Tou

Special Collections on Stanford Redwood City’s campus warmly welcomes (back) Alyssa Tou who will be starting just after Labor Day. Alyssa was a processing intern last summer (2018). During that summer, she completed the Webster Wilkinson Immigration Legal Archive (M1973), a collection that provides an interesting perspective on the last two decades of the Chinese Exclusion Act.

In June she received her MLIS from UCLA’s Digital Programs and Metadata Development. Alyssa will be responsible for processing over 200 linear feet of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance records which are in Chinese and English. The Chinese American Citizens Alliance is a nonprofit based in San Francisco, California. The organization began in 1895 as the fraternal order of the Native Sons of the Golden State, and by 1920 had a number of lodges nationally and was headquartered in San Francisco. The organization's mission is to work for equal rights for Americans of Chinese ancestry.
