Ashley Jester named as new Assistant Director in SERG

Ashley Jester will assume the position of Assistant Director in the Science and Engineering Resource Group (SERG) on February 1st. In this position she will manage the Terman Engineering Library and the Li and Ma Science Library. The establishment of this position is part of a reorganization of SERG that was conducted in a response to the consolidation of STEM libraries at Stanford. The new Assistant Director position parallels the position held by Julie Sweetkind-Singer in her role as Assistant Director, Geospatial, Cartographic & Science Data Services. In Ashley’s new position, she will manage the staff and operations of the Terman Engineering and Li and Ma Science Libraries and participate in the management and planning for SERG.
Ashley has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford with a strong concentration in applied statistics. Before she assumed her current position as the Head of SUL’s Social Science Data and Software (SSDS), she served as the Data Services Coordinator and Head of Quantitative and Qualitative Data for Columbia University Libraries. Ashley’s strong interest in data services, her history of programmatic innovation and her focus on research services made her an excellent fit for the new SERG Assistant Director position.
The reorganization of SERG is intended to accelerate our focus on user services, including our instructional program and emphasis on data. I am pleased to welcome Ashley to the group and look forward to great things in the years ahead. Please join me in welcoming Ashley in this new role at SUL.
