Please note that this is an update to the blog post published on Tuesday, April 2nd.

Prior to April 2nd, Stanford Libraries had received unclear communication concerning the future of Mendeley Institutional Edition (MIE). Mendeley has since clarified their message on MIE in a recent blog post.

The Mendeley post announces that they are working to implement the current premium features of MIE into a new version of Mendeley. These features include:

  • 100 GB personal library space
  • 100 collaborators
  • 100 GB group library space
  • 1000 groups

While Elsevier transitions the premium features of MIE into a new version, they have assured us that our Stanford Mendeley users will continue to have access to these premium features. We are happy to receive this assurance from Elsevier about our users’ access to premium features during the transition.

If you are a Stanford Mendeley Institutional user, we hope that these changes will be seamless. However, we also want you to feel prepared for any problems that may arise and to have the knowledge you need to make your citation management workflow more robust to changes in tools. We are still hosting "Moving from Mendeley Open Labs" on April 25th and April 26th. We will work with anyone who wants to transition away from Mendeley or who simply wants to understand how to minimize the risk of losing their work during changes in citation management tools.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please email us at mendeley2019@lists.stanford.edu.
