New exhibition on view at East Asia Library - Xiaoze Xie: Flammable Ideas, Fragile Objects
The East Asia Library is currently hosting a new exhibition of work by Prof. Xiaoze Xie, entitled Flammable Ideas, Fragile Objects, on view in the main second-floor exhibit space at the Stanford East Asia Library.

Fall 2022 Gear-Up for Science Data
Working with science data can be tough! Real datasets are often complex, with each type of data bringing along it its own needs for quality control, management, and analysis. Feeling overwhelmed? You're not alone!
The Stanford Libraries and the Lane Medical Library are very excited to announce that the Fall 2022 Gear-Up will focus on dealing with real data in the sciences. This event will consist of a series of virtual and hybrid workshops over 3 days, Monday - Wednesday October 10-12, culminating in an in-person research symposium and social hour on Thursday, October 13, 2022.
Escape the Library
This week, we opened "Escape the Library" at the Terman Engineering Library. We had such a fun time creating this escape room, and it has been even more fun watching students enjoy the game during orientation week.
It's been three days now, and we have had several escapees - including my husband (pictured below) who finally got to play after hearing me talk about the game ALL summer. Bookings are open until November 18th to anyone with an active Stanford ID. Will you escape?
New Adam Matthew database content: Primary source materials for British and world history
Stanford Libraries have acquired eight new databases published by Adam Matthew and sourced from material from the National Archives UK and the British Library:
Colonial Caribbean: CO Files from The National Archives, UK
East India Company: India Office Records from the British Library, 1599-1947 [three new modules listed below]
Module III: Series G. Factory Records for China, Japan and the Middle East, 1596-1870
Tim Page and Vietnam photographs in Special Collections
Noted British-Australian war photographer Tim Page passed away on August 22, 2022. Page is best known for his powerful photographs documenting the Vietnam conflict, which he covered for Time and Life magazines, U.P.I., Paris Match and The Associated Press. As noted by Seth Mydans in his obituary for Page in the New York Times, Page's "photography was notable for its raw drama and its intimacy with danger, the product of the risks he took to immerse himself in combat."
