October 24 is UN Day!
UN Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force in 1945 of the UN Charter, the founding document of the Organization. Signed in San Francisco by 51 Member States, the Charter lays out the main goals of the United Nations to maintain international peace and security, to protect human rights, to promote sustainable development, to deliver humanitarian aid, and to uphold international law.

The Stanford Libraries have been a United Nations Depository Library since June 1947. We have rich collections of Official Records as well as reports and publications in print, microform, and digital from the principal organs, specialized agencies, and the funds, programmes and other entities. The Hoover LIbrary and Archives also have a wealth of archival materials including the proceeding records from the United Nations Conference on International Organization, that took place from 25 April 1945 to 26 June 1945 in San Francisco, as well as UN Charter pamphlet collection.
