Dimensions Plus data

Dimensions is a large citation and abstract database that covers all subject areas and provides free access to citations from research publications. Stanford has a subscription to Dimensions Plus, a fee-based service, that covers millions of research publications connected by more than 1.4 billion citations, supporting grants, datasets, clinical trials, patents, and policy documents.

Dimensions Plus offers several unique features.  Unlike the Web of Science Core Collection or Scopus, other multidisciplinary databases, it is possible to do a full-text search of publications in Dimensions Plus.  Another unique feature is the ability to search grants by keywords of interest and then refine results by Active Year to learn more about grant awards covering past, present, and future years.  Altmetric social media data is another unique feature included for each publication. Unlike many other databases, Dimensions Plus indexes preprints.  Altmetric Attention Badges are now shown for arXiv publications which allows you see the online attention this research receive.  Analytical views enable users to quickly see trends and to compare two institutions.

After logging in with your Stanford University ID, authors can search by researcher and then send citations to their ORCID record.  You can also export up to 5,000 citations at one time in in three formats: BibTeX for a reference manager, csv, or bibliometic network that works with two open access visualization tools to view relationships between authors and institutions.  Our agreement includes API access to Dimensions Plus but does not include Dimensions Analytics, an add-on package.  Dimensions data is also available via Google Big Query.
