Introducing Kristina Larsen

It gives me great pleasure to introduce Kristina Larsen, our Assistant Rare Map Librarian at the David Rumsey Map Center. Kristina started on Feb 1, 2022. Prior to joining us, Kristina worked as a program manager on a variety of hardware prototyping projects at X, the moonshot factory (Google X) from 2016 to ‘18 and again from 2019 to ‘21. Before that, she worked as a project manager on exhibition development projects at the Exploratorium from 2007 to 2016. Clearly I have highlighted just a few roles in a long and illustrious professional career.
Early last year, Kristina switched gears, wanting to put her experience solving problems by organizing people and information and her penchant for managing exhibitions into a career in librarianship. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Kristina has a BA in Fine Arts from Hampshire College and still makes time for creative projects when she can. In pre-pandemic days she enjoyed traveling and learning about local material culture, and has taken weaving classes in Japan, Mexico, and Vermont.
Kristina has much to bring to her new position. She will primarily be responsible for the physical and digital exhibitions at the Rumsey Map Center as well as sharing the teaching load. Please join me in welcoming her to the libraries and to Stanford!
