Introducing Tyler Mitchell

It gives me great pleasure to introduce Tyler Mitchell as the Center Services Supervisor at the David Rumsey Map Center. Truth be told this post is a long time in the coming, as Tyler joined us on April 14, 2021!  However, he is no stranger to the libraries, or indeed to Stanford. Before starting his tenure at the Center, he was Green Library’s Circulation and Interlibrary Services Library Specialist for a year and a half, and prior to that he was a Music Librarian Assistant at the Music Library. Tyler holds a MA in Music History from Stanford (2019), an MA in Musicology from the University of Tennessee (2014). Before that he got an BA in Violin Performance at Kennesaw State University (2010). Tyler is currently working on a Master’s in Information Science from San Jose State University.

As you can see, Tyler is a talented person and brings to the Center a variety of experiences that he has already brought to bear over the last ten months. Tyler did very well in taking over more duties to tide us over as we recruited open positions at the Center. In his spare time, Tyler is an avid reader and loves listening to music. Please join me in welcoming him (rather belatedly through this blog post) and say hello to him when you see him around Green Library!
