Welcome to Lindsay King
It is my great pleasure to welcome Lindsay King to Stanford Libraries as the new Head of the Bowes Art & Architecture Library. Lindsay's first day was Monday, August 1st. Prior to joining Stanford, Lindsay served as the Associate Director for Access and Research Services at the Robert B. Haas Family Arts Library at Yale University. In that position she managed staff, collection development, reference, instruction, digital services and image databases, and outreach. Part of her role was managing the Arts Library Digital Services, which included the digitized Visual Resources Collection of slides and photographs. In addition, she was directly involved in arts-related digital humanities projects, such as Robots Reading Vogue and Ensemble@Yale.
Lindsay holds a BA in Art History (Bradley University), and MA in Modern Art History, Theory, and Criticism (The School of the Art Institute of Chicago), and a MS in Library and Information Science (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). In addition to Yale, she has worked at the Art Institute of Chicago and Northwestern University. She has curated numerous exhibits, the most recent at Yale entitled, "Firsts and Founders: Early Women in Drama at Yale." She regularly writes reviews for Library Journal and the Art Libraries Society of North America Reviews. She regularly presents at conferences most recently about such topics as considering images as data, storytelling with library data, and crowdsourcing project management.
Lindsay brings with her a wealth of experience with both physical and digital collections along with a strong service ethos that will serve not only the Departments of Art & Art History, but the broader community at Stanford interested in how the arts complement and intersect with current research.
