National Geospatial Advisory Group holds quarterly meeting in September 2017

The National Geospatial Advisory Committee (NGAC) held their fall meeting September 6-7, 2017 at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, West Viriginia.  The NGAC is a Federal Advisory Committee (FACA) to the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC).  The role of the NGAC is to provide advice and recommendations related to the national geospatial program and the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.  Full minutes of the meeting, PowerPoints, and lightning talks are available on the NGAC website.

Larry Dahl recognized for 35 years of service

On May 25th, at the Multicultural Springfest here on campus, our own Larry Dahl was one of the many Stanford staff recognized for serving 30 to 50 years at the University.  At the celebration each honoree received a certificate + an engraved plaque to honor their service to Stanford with the highlight of shaking hands with Provost Persis Drell on stage.

The National Geospatial Advisory Committee (NGAC) held its first meeting of the year in Washington, D.C. on March 21-22, 2017.  The NGAC is a Federal Advisory Committee (FACA) to the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC).  The role of the NGAC is to provide advice and recommendations related to the national geospatial program and the development of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.

Archive shelving

New shelving in ARS

At long last, the Archive of Recorded Sound will receive some much-needed new shelving, and the installation work will begin this summer with preparatory shifting of archival materials beginning on May 1st.  During the summer and fall much of the old shelving will be removed and new shelving will be installed.  The project is scheduled for completion in December.
