To commemorate the German national holiday Tag der Deutschen Einheit (Day of German Unity) on Wednesday, October 3rd, 2018, there will be an Open House in Special Collections from 1:30-4:30pm featuring some recent acquisitions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

At 3:15pm, Kathleen Smith, subject specialist for the Germanic collections, will provide a short introduction to influences in material culture and industrial design during this period as reflected in the items on display.

The Day of German Unity celebrates the anniversary of German reunification in 1990, when East and West Germany were re-united after decades of separation following WWII. This event is on a drop-in basis, so please feel free to stop by for a quick look or an in-depth examination of the materials on display.
